A fatal two-car accident occurred on Sunday night in North Hollywood, injuring three individuals, including an infant, and resulting in one fatality. The accident caused a vehicle to overturn, trapping two people inside the wreckage, and prompting the Los Angeles Fire Department to respond to the scene at 11482 West Magnolia Boulevard at around 7 pm.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a female driver in a gray sedan exited Magnolia Boulevard Northbound 170 Freeway and disregarded an active traffic signal by running it. This caused her to collide into a dark-colored Honda CRV with three people inside, one being an infant aged 10 months old.
The impact of the collision caused the Honda to overturn, trapping a 35-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man inside. Firefighters worked to extricate them from the wreckage, while LAPD Detective Lisset Fuentes confirmed that the male passenger in the Honda CRV died.
It is unclear whether he died at the scene or later in the hospital due to his injuries. The female passenger was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Fortunately, the infant was not trapped in the vehicle and has been taken to a hospital. They are expected to make a recovery.
Emergency personnel rushed the female driver of a gray sedan to the hospital following her red light violation; fortunately, she is expected to make a full recovery. At this point in time, there is no evidence that drugs or alcohol played a role in causing this North Hollywood two-car accident.
